Open Source Work shop

    The IEEE Student branch proposes to organize a two day open source workshop on 17th and 18th of march 2007. The workshop will be aimed at popularising opensource products and solutions and will be acting as an awareness congress. We invite participation from all open source enthusiasts across the country.

    In the workshop ...

    discuss !!

    The workshop consists of keynote lectures and discussions by people from the industry and academia.
    We encourage people to address the tools, techniques and contexts which are involved in critical activities such as requirements gathering,analysis and design, coordination and collaboration,debugging and documentation etc.

    demonstrate !!

    Apart from the keynote lectures the workshop plans to have stalls put up by the student groups where they will make an earnest effort to display and popularise different open source products and their advantages.Every stall will be manned by more than 5 students and will be equipped with personal computers and workstations in order to show people the working of open source products

    Linux 4 u !!!!

    The workshop also aims to stall many computers with different distributions of linux and other open source operating systems installed so that the people can get hands on experience and so can get a look and feel of the product.This feature will be available at different stalls as well

    At last we plan to give people cd/dvd of one operating system of their choice.

    Ever been to a boring class and felt asleep? Ever struggled to explain a point to an uninterested teacher/student? Ever suffered at school for lack of tutorial competence? If it rings a bell.. you might want to come and share your insights with us at this birds of a feather session.


    Wondered what the government is going to do with the 2% education cess? Want to give them a suggestion or two? Come along.... the birds of a feather meet at NCH on Saturday.


    Wondered if the government could provide equal opportunity for all by means of enabling equal guidance at school level instead of resorting to vote bank tacktics? Or if you feel completely the opposite. We are discussing on those lines this weekend. See you on 17th March 4:45pm at New Conference Hall ,NITW
